Lighting – Money Saving Ideas

05-01-2010

Everyone is looking to save money these days especially on household bills such as electricity. Here is a look at some ways you can use lighting to save you money on your electricity bill such as low energy lights and dimmer switches.

 Lighting – Money Saving Ideas

In today’s economic climate everyone is looking to save money where they can especially on household bills. A good place to start is to start looking at ways of how you can save money on your electric bill using some lighting techniques. There are many lighting options to choose from that are used especially for the reason of saving energy and electric. Here we look at some lighting options you may wish to take on board to bring down your electric bill.

Low Energy Light Bulbs

There are hundreds of options of light bulbs today and some are more energy efficient than others. There are specialized websites online that deal solely with low energy lighting and light bulbs. There used to be no option of bulbs in that incandescent bulbs were the only light bulb to have. Nowadays fluorescent bulbs are used because the bulbs use less energy and they last longer as well, which in turn saves money on electric.

Dimmer Lights

Dimmer lights are used to control the amount of light and the brightness of the room. Having the lights on a low dim will use less energy and thus save you money on electric. This is a great money saving tip because even walking into a room to find something you will need to turn the light on, with a dimmer switch you can still turn the light on but with less energy which in turn means less money.

Standby Lighting

Many appliances such as TVs, DVD players, washing machines, mobile phone charges etc have standby lights on them which means they use energy even though they are not being used because they are on standby. Turning these appliances off at the mains so the standby light is not on will save you hundreds of pounds on your electricity bill.
