Lamps are an interesting way of lighting areas within our homes as they are quite different to that of lighting fixtures such as chandeliers, pendant lights, wall lights etc. Lamps are pieces of furniture within themselves because not only is the shade a decorative piece but the stand and base is as well.

Mood Lighting with Lamps

Lamps are a great way of adding mood lighting to your home and rooms, not only does the light from a lamp create a soft mood but the style and shape of the lamp itself gives a warm atmosphere. Desk lamps are great in offices, or on the desk in your bedroom or by your bed on the bedside table. Lamps are efficient because you only use them when you need them, for example the ceiling light is usually the main light of the room that is used most often whereas a lamp is turned on if you are reading in bed and need a little extra light. The light that comes from a lamp is not usually as striking as that from a ceiling light due to the lampshade and so they just add a hint of light to the corner of the room which gives it a warm tone.
